CORDS - chip mill analysis program
Overview
The "CORDS" spreadsheet program was originally developed to perform analysis of data collected in chip mill studies and in its present expanded form it can do a number of different estimations in cord scaling. It projects weights, and yields of chip and peeled roundwood products (and their associated raw material costs) on the basis of peeled stick-scaled cord products, and also for chips sold by different conventions. The program allows for different input assumptions regarding wood and bark volumes, moisture contents, specific gravities, losses in chipping, etc.. Also it allows the user to perform the different analyses required using assumptions of stick-scaled or weight scaled cord inputs. The documented program requires relatively few entries, and is designed for a user who is familiar with chip mill operations and cord scaling (because a level of background knowledge is required for reasonable assumptions) consequently the program does not have or require a manual.
